How to Choose the Right Private Money Lender

Especially lately, I feel like I’m on a soap box about the importance of choosing the right private money lender for your specific situation or deal. With so many lenders to choose from, you really have to make sure that your interests in the deal are met. Because each real estate deal is so unique, your financial needs for that deal are also unique.
If you decide to go to the lenders yourself thinking you’ll get a better deal, you’re probably wrong. Unless you intimately know people within various investor groups, you’re unlikely to get a “better” deal . The hard money lenders, particularly right now, only have their investor’s best interest in mind. And, all of them see the deal of the day at least 10 times per day.
However, along with the sudden increase in the number of companies who are offering private money, also comes more competition for the best real estate deals. This is where a good broker can shop your deal out to only the lenders that would best suit your specific needs. Every deal is so different which is why knowing which hard money lender to approach is so important.
